Interaction through Object Afterimage Control Using Temporal Color Mixing Displays

Ongoing
Period:
Apr 2025 - Mar 2028
Funding:
Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B)

Shio Miyafuji

This project proposes a motion-aware display technique that uses high-speed visual display devices, such as high-speed projectors, to present target images in the afterimage of moving objects. With this approach, no image is visible while the viewer's gaze and the object are stationary, but images appear in the afterimage when the gaze or object moves. The project also investigates the perceptual mechanisms by which the human visual system recognizes images during high-speed visual presentation.

Supporting Skill Acquisition through Gaze Characteristics Analysis and Gaze Guidance

Ongoing
Period:
2023 - 2026

This project explores methods for transferring tacit expert skills to learners in microsurgical suturing training for neurosurgeons by providing gaze guidance with mixed reality (MR). We extract expert movement and gaze patterns from microscope videos to understand surgical skills, then reproduce these patterns in learners' practice videos and provide feedback that guides their movements and gaze.
